HI-STEM is committed to providing an outstanding environment in which the next generation of young scientists can receive training in how to perform high quality research in the field of stem cell biology. We provide educational opportunities at the following levels:

PhD studentships

HI-STEM offers an inspiring and scientifically stimulating environment in which to perform a doctoral thesis. Currently, about 20 PhD students perform their research projects at HI-STEM, either via the Helmholtz International Graduate School for Cancer Research or the Hartmut Hoffmann-Berling International Graduate School of Molecular and Cellular Biology (HBIGS). For additional information regarding open positions, please contact the group leader of your area of interest. Current deadlines for applications to the Helmholtz International Graduate School and the Hartmut Hoffmann-Berling International Graduate School can be found on the respective institution’s web site.

Bachelor / Masters Program

Bachelor / Master students enrolled at the University of Heidelberg are afforded the possibility of performing a bachelor / master thesis on a wide range of topics supervised by experienced group leaders and senior scientists. Outstanding Bachelor / Masters students who are registered at other institutions may also contact us to enquire about the possibility of performing their research thesis within our laboratories.
Send your application including cover letter, CV and letter of reference to the group leader heading the subject of your choice.

Clinical Fellowships

We welcome enquiries from physicians and physicians in training who are interested in undertaking a medical doctoral thesis or postdoctoral research in the field of either translational or basic stem cell research. Please directly contact the head of the research group in which you would be interested in working.
